The video, got from YouTube, shows a test done by Dyson engineers using many Air Multiplier, the patented Dyson's Bladeless Fan.
It show how inducement and entrainment works on the Air Multiplier™ fan. If you watch
closely, the balloon is sucked into the airflow from behind and to the side of the fan; this is inducement and entrainment of the air.
In the above video, got from YouTube you can listen the inventor Sir James Dyson explaining how it works and also the analysis of Telegraph's "Gadget inspectors Express" of the equipment. The system is unique, and on the web you can find many other video and informations. |
Above you probably can only see a banned VLC cone because vlc plug-in is outlawed by internet browsers since 2017. |
As written on You Tube "Lots of experimentation with different sized balloons and other objects produced this video. And although edited to include our successful attempts, the video is made from completely genuine footage (and no, the balloon isn't attached to anything). Find out more on Dyson fans web page".
This disclaimer is required because the use I do of Dyson's video and names in rtp_int.html to show the feasibility of a quite hign internet bridge (halfHD played as 1080p) and related http live streaming (hls) to be watched - at least - through mobile browses (on mobile phones).
Also important is the usage of half picture size as in the top left video of this page recompressed in HalfD1 (512x576, PAR=2a1) at 171 Kbps 100 of which for video and 64 for mp3 audio. Here is shown embedded at 640x480 (circa 2/3 of the original youtube source (854x480, slightly bigger but with a PAR 1:1) but with a more than double bitrate: total of 387 Kbps, 252 of which for video and 128 for AAC audio. Also important is the quality of the source before the resize, not only related
to the size or bitrate but to the overall quality of the video (such as the clarity
of the image).
It is quite hard to say, but the first video where Dyson explains was less than 300 Kbps, it has been reduced, but any enlargement evidences
artifacts. On the other hand Ballons and Fan size was originally a 640x360 (about 500Kbps total of 355K for video + 128 for AAC audio) and the
internal stream as well the splitting is counducted on a 1080p - HalfHD at 580Kbps (500Kb for video+64k for audio). It seems much much better.
Stream through <video> tag from file balloons_and_fans_half_1080p.mp4 compressed at 500 Kbps. |
desktop browser does not open hls metafiles. The only way to open it is to create a link (like this) to be open throug an external application (i use always VLC player). |
